Might as well let everyone know the good news – Lynn Archer in the local press!
I won first prize at my local show. Howarth is not just famous for the Brontë sisters but hosts an annual event that las been running for over a century.
The event – at Haworth Village Hall – featured over 400 exhibits submitted by 75 different entrants, including a number of people who were exhibiting at the show for the first time.
Several new classes were amongst the 111 on offer.
This year’s show was the 105th.
A committee spokesperson says: “It was lovely to see the hall once again filled with fantastic exhibits, including vegetables, flowers, handicrafts, produce and classes for children.
“After all the hard work of organising, it is good to see everything come together on the day.
“Prize money was paid from sponsorship, provided by many local businesses and individuals. We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported us, either by sponsoring classes or providing a raffle prize.”
An auction of exhibits following the show raised £533 for Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands.
It added to nearly £150 that had been coined in through a promotional cake and plant stall in Main Street, Haworth.
Also, any unclaimed prize money went to the hospice.
And Oakworth Manorlands fundraising group provided refreshments throughout the afternoon, which raised a further £250-plus.
Trophies were presented by Keighley MP Robbie Moore.
Trophy winners included Lynn Archer in the local press: most points in handicraft classes, Gillian Humphrey; best exhibit in handicraft classes, Lynn Archer.
Plans are already underway for next year’s show, on Sunday, August 30. Entrants don’t have to live in Haworth.
